Death is a huge theme in the Harry Potter series.
*Dumbledore says "there are worse things than death"
*Cedric and company in book 4 are only echos because you can't come back once you are dead.
*You have to have seen a death to see the thestrals
*Luna and Harry could "hear them" behind the veil because they have seen death, or so I believe. We will have to wonder if Neville could.
*Voldemort took great steps to avoid death.
*Ghosts are wizards who feared death and going on

Just some thoughts to think about. So, let the discussions on death in the wizarding world begin. You have to wonder what else Harry can see or hear because he has seen death......

Since this thread seems to be a dud, I will modify it to include people who may die in the last two books and who might become ghosts. Grant, had to get your idea here. It was just too good.

Percy will die in the next book. I also think he will be a ghost . I think he is too uptight to accept death and will choose to linger-and harrass Ron at Hogwarts!

Oh gods... that's too funny of a thought. Percy as a ghost, spending his afterlife tormenting Ron and Harry during their last year at Hogwarts!!! He is so uptight... you nailed that one right on the head. He won't accept his death. He will think that it's a joke, that he isn't really dead, and that others are playing a HUGE joke on him.

PS... I didn't think that this was a dud. I just really couldn't think of anything to add at the time that I first looked at it.

Just imagine him......floating around telling off first years, annoying Ron, backing up Hermione when she is yelling at the boys about their homework. Crookshanks would have to bat at him all the time just to annoy him.

Oh god... you know, I don't think that I want him to be a ghost. He's annoying enough as it is. And, he's really quite drab. I don't want there to be a lot about him. Stick to the interesting stuff.

I think if he annoyed the kids, Dumbledore would ban him. So, I can see him haunting the Ministry.

There are supposed to be many deaths coming in the next few books, so I think we will loose another beloved character. They are not beloved, to me at least, but I think the Creevy brothers are going to die. It also would not surprise me if professor Trewalny dies. I doubt that she is very powerful. She also would not accept her death because her inner eye didn't warn her of it.

Hey... good call on Trelawney. She wouldn't accept it, most likely, since her 'third eye' didn't tell her, and therefore, she wouldn't think that she was really dead.

Well, I think that I'm off to bed guys. I have to get up in 6 hours. So, I will talk to you tomorrow. Sherry, you have my cell phone number... give me a call tomorrow if you want. I can talk while at work.

Good night

Goodnight Kris

I still see you online, go to bed! NOW! (Insert mean face here, though I don't really have a mean face...)

Actually, I turned my computer off and went to bed. When you don't hit the 'log out' button, you will look like you're still on INR for awhile.

Hey... what if we lose some more main/major characters? I think that it's a huge possibility. I mean, she's even toyed with the idea of Harry himself not being alive at the end.

Oh I see. sorry for giving you such a scare (with my scary-face on and all)

Well, losing too many major characters will really tick off a lot of people. Maybe one we could handle...

Anyway, I'll trust in her that she'll work it out nice and neatly... even if I do cry at the end.

I'm sure that we haven't seen the last of our own tears.
I think that we would be ignorant (like our new best friend in FW with all her comments) to think that there is going to be a war, and there won't be casualities on both sides. We will lose people that we're not ready to lose. Count on that. It's won't all be pretty. But, I know that it will still be a good book.

I see either Lupin, Hagrid or Dumbledore dying in the last book. Especially Dumbledore. Harry needs that ultimate anger to kill Voldemort. I see it as a "Harry I am your great grandfather and you are the heir of Gryffindor" and then Dumbledore ALLOWS himself to be killed so that Harry can kill Voldie and live himself.
I think Hagrid might be killed also. Don't know why.

O.K. gotta get off this thread. I'm having a really bad day and this thread is a bit depressing right now.

It is depressing I don't think it will be anger that kills voldemort though

that would be a bad lesson now wouldn't it? Harry will use LOVE to kill voldemort

that's okay, the topic is death;

it's kind've a relief to get off topic in this one.

Yes, it is....

But, since Sherry ever so lovingly started this thread... than death is what we shall have to keep coming back to, time and time again, whenever we enter this particular thread.

I don't want any of our main characters to die... unless it's someone that's a death eater or from Slytherin house. I know... evil, wicked, bad thoughts that I'm having!

Oh, Ron says Hi to Kris.

hehehe okay

Hmm... I'm wondering if maybe she'll totally freak us out by perhaps... killing off a bad guy, but someone who isn't necessarily that bad - say Draco Malfoy... he's bad, but more of a naughty kid than anything else. I'm sure a few people's eyes would boggle if that happened though.

Ron didn't know I was on the phone. He was in the backyard with Damon. Men hang around fire, manly thing.

Oh Grant, just act mildy interested and then gossip is more "acceptable" for men.

Just a chiminea and some plastic chairs. Nothin fancy, but it is so relaxing for Ron. I like to let him get his quiet time. I talk way too much for him to truly unwind. So, here I am, blabbing away.

just everyone say "HP rules" at the end of their messages and that'll make it a HP related message no need to move it

I love those chimineas. They are the best... I really want to get one. Heidi and I looked at some today in Wal Mart.

Ummmmmmmmmm... someone is going to die in the next book!
