Hello,

I've been hearing of some talks about certain 80's tv shows being made into movies...

Here are a couple that I've heard are in talks...

Knight Rider (hope they update the car!! Make Kit a Mitsubishi, and make the car MANUAL!! Or at least tiptronic...)

The Dukes of Hazard (did the part of Daisy Dukes really go to Britney Spears?? Ugh....)

Magnum PI (just heard about this one...)

I can't think of any others right now, but I can tell you of a couple I'd be interested in seeing...

Automan
The 6-TRILLION dollar man!!
HARDCASTLE AND MCCORMICK!!!
Whiz Kids (this might make a cute family movie, if done right...)
The A-Team (could you imagine who would play B.A.? Michael Clarke Duncan in a mohawk?? I think Brad Pitt could be Faceman, Ed Norton could play Murdock, maybe... And Hannibal? I have no idea........)
Airwolf

That's all I could think of at this point....

What do you all think of reviving 80's tv shows in feature film form? Will they be successful? why? why not?

hmm....

Knight Rider....I used to watch that show all the time....I just cant see it being popular as a movie....maybe....but not for me.

Dukes of Hazard....PUKE! I hated that show! I know, I know...its wierd to not like it...but I just never got into it, although I did have a crush on one of the guys in the show

Magnum PI.....I loved that show! Maybe it might be good....but I just cant see it making a ton of money....

Of course I didnt think Charlie's Angels would fare well as a movie, and I was really wrong about that.

Now...the A-team...would be SO cool!!! I loved that show, and that is a show that they could make into something at the theater.

Hardcastle and McCormick....I liked that one too, I just cant see it without the original people.

Really its hard for me to accept remakes of anything. I always loved the original miracle on 34th street, and then they remade it...same with the parent trap. Im just not big on remakes...Once I get used to the original people, its hard to see it with anyone else.....

I mean, how can you replace Tom Selleck as Magnum?

BTW...Hi Sierra!!!

Tom Selleck still is very sexy. He is one of those men who just gets better with age!

No Tom Selleck isnt dead

But think about it...think of the way Hollywood is.

When The Sum of All Fears was being made a movie, they didnt want Harrison Ford to be in it, even though he was Jack Ryan in all the other movies...and why didnt they want him? Cause he was too old for Hollywood standards to keep on playing Jack Ryan. Thats is really why he didnt get the role, because of his age, and Harrison looks good to me!

I mean Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaquelyn Smith arent dead....but they got three younger actresses to play the parts.

Im figuring it on the fact that Hollywood is trying to attract a more younger audience with their movies, that why Ben Affleck got the part of Jack Ryan, and Drew Barrymore, Lucy Lui, and Cameron Diaz got Charlie's Angels.

So based on that, Im assuming they wouldnt go to Selleck to give him his original character.......even though he's the only one I would ever consider as Magnum!

I loved the shows in the 80's and it would be interesting to see the movies. But, I just don't know if they would be THAT good. Just because it was good then, doesn't mean it will be now. There is just no telling until they are released!!!

And if they have Brittany Spears play Daisy Duke, I will NOT go and see that movie. It's bad enough she's been everywhere... take her OUT of the movies. She can't act. But, she is used to showing off her body, so I guess that would be why they would choose her.

You know now that you say that...youre right...it was a prequel. I kept wondering where his wife and kid were, and I was told it was probably before the character got married.....

I love Harrison too! So let me ask you...if they made another Jack Ryan movie that was after the wife and kids....do you think they would use Harrison or someone else?

Theres rumors of a new Transformers movie coming out, and that wouldnt be so bad except its live action.

Ummm, yea. When 90% of the cast HAS to be CGI, why not just make the whole thing that way? I dont know either.

I heard today on the radio that they are considering making, or maybe actually are in pre-production of, BEWITCHED!

Guess who they have as the two lead characters, Tabitha and Darren?? (Her name WAS Tabitha, right???)

Darren: Colin Farrell

Tabitha: Nicole Kidman

I think Nicole fits well, but I have no idea why Colin should be cast as Darren... Colin's too pretty to play a goofy but level-headed guy, in my opinion... But, maybe I'm type-casting....

No, Tabitha was their daughter. Elizabeth Montgomery played, Samantha. Darrin and Sam, and their daughter, Tabitha.

They have casted Will Ferrell for the part of Darrin, not Colin Farrell. Thank god, because he wouldn't fit the part. They had toyed with Jim Carrey or Mike Myers for the part.

Anyway... I will definately go and see that.

They should do "I Dream of Jeanie" as well. That was a great show.

I agree about I Dream of Jeanie, and thanks for the correction. That makes WAY more sense, but out of all you mentioned, there's no contest. Jim Carrey would've been PERFECT. You can't get closer to the look and feel of Darren.

Too bad, but Will should do quite a fine job anyways. I still think that the most hilarious scene in any movie I've ever seen in my life (there's gotta be close to 1000 by now...) was in Old School when Will's character shoots himself in the neck with a powerful tranquilizer gun! I can't get over that scene!!

KJ, you're fast!!

I still need to rent Old School. It sounds like a great movie.

Yes, I think that Jim Carrey would have been the best choice. But, maybe he was offered this part, and just didn't want to take it on. Or, maybe he had other committments that wouldn't have allowed him the time for this movie. Oh well, Will Farrell will do a good job. He's goofy too. No Jim Carrey... but he's funny.

There already was one original movie of MASH with Donald Sutherland and Elliot Gould...it was really good. I have it on video....and the TV show was fabulous! It ran for so long.

I just dont think that they could make a movie with the same characters and not have the same people. Alan Alda, Loretta Swit, Larry Linville, etc. It could never be the same!

I could never see it.....it would ruin the orignal movie and the TV shows to me...I could never let that happen. That show is a classic. I say leave MASH be! Let us remember it the way it was....dont ruin the memory.

Saying that probably influenced someone to think "yeah it is a good idea to remake M*A*S*H"

What have I done?

Let me make it clear then....Its NOT a good idea. Once the REAL show has been seen....they'll get the point.

Personally, I do not think it would fare well just for the reasons i gave. people who are true MASH fans would never go for it.

I just thought about Spencer For Hire...

Could that be made into a good movie, and who should play the late Robert Urich's part, Spencer?

I think the perfect Hawk would be Samuel Jackson, but of course, I'd have no problem if Avery Brooks reprised his role. That man hasn't aged a day...
