A prominent US psychologist says popular fictional characters such as Hermione Granger could be contributing to an increase in violence among girls.
We'll add this to the list of other things Harry Potter has been held responsible for possibly causing: headaches from causing kids to read for extended lengths of time, back problems for forcing kids to lug around the monstrous fifth book, chauvinism, devil-worshiping, fatism (discrimination against obese people), "postPotter depression" (how we feel after we finish a book and settle down for the multi-year wait for the next installment), forced abortions in China, and global warming.
Okay, I made the last one up, but you get the idea - Harry is a popular scapegoat. Don't get your knickers in a twist over this one.
Okay... yeah, so NOW I know why I'm suffering from daily headaches/migraines. Even if I haven't been reading the books for some time, it's a released "injury" and my back surgery was due to the heaviness of the books. Wow... I can sue JKR for cauing these things, right? Oh, and I'm feeling a little angry, and like I want to hurt someone. I think that I learned that from Hermione Grainger, since she's just ohhhhhhhhhhhh so violent.

Sherryzod said this in post #4 : fatism? Who are they calling fat in the books?
There was a huge up roar, about how JKR treats her characters, who are of average size, good... but those overweight aren't treated good... and it's making girls starve themselves.
People will do ANYTHING to get attention, and to make something that they don't like, look bad.

Well, Draco's tag-a-longs are portrayed as over weight. Then theres Dudley, and immense self. I would have to find the articles. They are claiming that because everyone is thin, that she's saying that THAT is what you must look like.

Dudley isnt emensly evil though .. mean yes ... but not evil ... i read that article on mugglenet and it says that the people are saying that everyone in the book that is fat is evil but the person who said that proberly hadnt read passed the first 2 chapeters of book 1 or skimmed through the books
Sherryzod said this in post #11 : Most kids are thin. There will always be a few that are not, but for the most part at 11 they are thin. Sheesh. Hagrid is huge and he is a good guy.
Hagrid is a giant though
Kids of 11 still have some puppy fat that should be easy to get rid of ... anyway ... lots of girls who say they are fat are not in my eyes ...
Hagrid is big and he's a great guy, and there Eloise Midgion who Hermione says is a great person. And there is Slughorn, who helps harry out. Honesty, this is just stupid. There are WAY more evil skinny people. Snape (maybe not EVIL, only time will tell) Voldemort, the Malfoys, most of the death eaters, sheesh!
