The first of the series was called Full Spectrum Warrior and came out a couple years ago and is based on a real army simulator that was used to train soldiers (it's exceptional): http://www.fullspectrumwarrior.com/index2.php

I strongly recommend that you play the first FSW before FSW: TEN HAMMERS. It has an excellent training session that you have to pass before you are allowed to progress to the missions. This is very helpful because the play and controls are so different from anything that you have played before. Also the two games are a continuous story and it just makes sense to play them in order. Besides, the first FSW is only about $15 now.
Oh oh oh, you creeped me out with all that "story talk" I usually only have time to drop into combat, take out a few terrorists, perhaps cause a few civilian casualties, and jump right out. If I've got to go through a "story" I'll get bored... unless its not important.

No, no, no. By story I mean the historical scenario.
gaboman said this in post #6 : Oh that's pretty cool then. If they use real historical battles, then that does boost my view of it quite a bit. When's it set? The Gulf War?
No. not real but fictional historical events in the fictional country of Zekistan, modeled after Iraq. Even the geography of the country looks like Iraq. Read this:
Ah, they really went all out on it. I wonder what kind of issues they had with simply using real scenarios (I mean... really having Iraq as the setting). Perhaps they were worried about a social backlash? I don't know... its just a game though, and that would've made it really cool.

I like video games that mirror real life. At least the kind that look like real situations with real people and real scenery. If I'm running around in a city shooting people its more exciting than being in a warehouse or factory or something (which are both popular settings among violent video games). When do I ever go into warehouses or factories?
On topic, I haven't grabbed Full Spectrum Warrior yet. I haven't seen it out here at all yet.
